Boon Boona changing the way you drink and make your coffee

February 14th, 2023 - Efrem Fesaha, founder and CEO of Boon Boona Coffee is photographed in his new shop location inside the University Book Store located in Seattle’s University District. The grand opening was February 13th for his new cafe location. Fesaha has two other locations; one in Renton and another on Capitol Hill next to Seattle University. Boon Boona Coffee is African sourced coffee that has formed long-lasting, sustainable relationships with coffee producers, exporters and importers in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, and many more African nations, with a focus on supporting woman-owned growers. "Boon" and "Boona" are both words that mean "coffee" in different languages of East Africa. Fesaha, coming from an Eritrean family, he grew up with the traditional coffee ceremony performed by Eritreans and Ethiopians, which is the way that many people from this region prepare their daily cup of coffee. Boon Boona of downtown Renton has been one of, if not the most popular local coffee shops that we have here in the community. Founder and CEO, Efrem Fesaha, has had their share of knowledge on large coffee chains. Since Fesaha came from an Eritrean family, he was able to learn about people from this region that continue, to this day, to prepare their daily cup of coffee through a ceremonial performance. Which is also performed by Ethiopians as well. Which is now how Boon Bonna coffee is made also! Completely green coffee is healthy for the mind, body, and soul. Usually within East African culture, coffee is often with others instead of by yourself. So when Fesaha announced that he would be creating coffee to sell, information got out to his community quickly. Making Boon Boona form a connection with exporters, coffee producers, and importers within Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, and many more African nations. They do however focus more on supporting women-owned growers as their main source of coffee beans.

As the company continues to flourish with currently three locations, in Downtown Renton, Seattle, and The University of Washington’s bookstore. They have also supported one of the local churches in the Downtown Renton area, Radiant Covenant Church with regular coffee and decaf, every Sunday. Making it known that they are more than just a coffee shop, Boon Boona is somewhat of a safe haven. People from all walks of life are coming in and coming together for tasty signature treats and rich well-made coffee and just all around peaceful vibe. Boon Boona also continues to thrive in ‘showing up for the little guys.’As 2022’s Washington Small Business Person of the Year! Go Mr. Fesaha! Make sure you are on the lookout for sponsored events by Boon Boona and make sure you check them out at one of their amazing locations.
