The SEC continues to be the predominant place where ‘nothing else is, so we dominate football’ as reflected in almost the last decade-plus of college gridiron. This week’s announcmeent of the Top 25 and most imortantly, the Top 4 who will qualify for the playoffs leaves a few questions answered. One – ‘Bama remains the team to beat. Two – Notre Dame’s fiasco in Miama has them trading out positions with the ‘Canes. Three – An undefeated (thus far) Wisconsin doesn’t trump a one-loss band of Sooners. Four – Clemson is going to have to bang out with Miami, who has clenched an appearance in the ACC title game to get back to a title game. Five – The Pacific Northwest is way far on the outside looking – not necessarily looking in either as no one seems to respect the Pac-12 and it body of multiple-loss squads. The Huskies may have been the last chance and their loss to Stanford may have kissed them goodbye this year. The Cougs are out and Boise? Don’t even start… Keep your eye on Central Florida and former Nebraska stud-quarterback turned head coach, Scott Frost. They’re one of the last of the undefeated and could sneak in to a bowl game with a Power 5 squad if they keep that designation. And Lamar Jackson is still the best – very best – player in college football …The Heisman Trophy has become a talent plus winning=factor award… Jackson’s back to back 3,000 (passing), 1,000 (rushing) seasons are re-dic!!!
