The Black Panther Party for Self Defense has had many legendary paths and tales of service, action and even its attack by the federal and local governments wherever it has existed have been tales of unbelievable lore… However, these days with media sophistication becoming more common and accessible – Panthers and their supporters, family, friends and story tellers are laying the tales down from another perspective.
The Panthers have roots in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, but further detail places the Panthers” birth in the legendarily racist state of Alabama in the south eastern United States. Little has been said about one of the many strong Panther contingents that existed in the final frontier of The United States – Seattle. The Puget Sound Panther chapter was led by strong voices, whom like the chapters of Oakland, Chicago and Los Angeles were violently targeted by federal and local law enforcement. Aaron Dixon is one of the remaining members of The Seattle Black Panthers and has remained involved in the community locally, regionally and nationally.
Finally, these tales and legends from the perspective of Panthers are being told from the survivors and their many supporters are emerging with works of new media like a new and forthcomong production and sound track, My People Are Rising… Featuring music from Black Stax, the dearly departed The Jacka – son of a Panther and many more.
