Beginning June 11th, the fabulous Erykah Badu will be kicking off her tour from the south to the westside, starting in San Antonio, Texas for her first day. Ms. Badu plans to include some of her amazing hits such as, “On and On” and “Next Lifetime.” Ms. Badu has been influenced by R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul vibes in order to create the hits we continue to listen to today and new ones/ features that we hear currently. Ms. Badu has focused more on R&B and Soul to get her word out there. Many women believe that her music has not only influenced independence for Black women but has also been a person that women in general look up to as one of the internet “Aunties.” Meaning that her personality and how she treats people, including her fans, give off the spirit of someone you’ve known your whole life. This is also another reason why people love her music so much, she makes music you can connect to. Myself, personally, I connect to her song “Tyrone.” I learned about the song when I was about fifteen, and even though I didn’t fully understand the meaning behind it, I learned on my own and it still sticks with me ten years later. Also got me through some tough situations as well. I hope it’s one that we hear on her setlist. The concert will make its way to Seattle, Washington on June 23rd and tickets are going quickly. I’m not sure about you but as someone that grew up with her music, I definitely will be making sure I have my ticket come June 23rd for Wamu Theater. This will be her first tour back since 2021 and since her album release in 2015. She also plans on including some of those songs as well into her setlist.
