During this past March within the Renton community, we had the annual Northwest Naturals Expo at the Renton Pavillion. This year’s theme was “Journey to Wonderland” where hair stylists could tap even deeper into the creative side of their art with different unique styles. Some of the vendors that supported the event were Northwest Tap Connection, Impress: Experts in Invisible Orthodontics, Smith Brothers Farms, Beyond the Curls: All-Natural Vegan Hair Care, and many more that have been supported for multiple years. The event was held on March 25 and 26th, connecting stylists and the Renton community. Connecting people for a whimsical creative experience for everyone.
Some of the stylists included multiple shades of red and orange. Touching on the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter to name a few characters. The goal of the expo was to create a total of four different unique styles that stick to the theme completely. All while keeping everything completely natural. From fros to braids, to colored extensions to curls of every form, it was clear that there was more to the show than just hair. Barbers were also welcome as well. They were able to show off their skills It was about having something for us, by us. Even though it was a competition, there is just something about having an event that not only supports our people but also uplifts our people to go above and beyond to express their talents. This year’s winner was Royal Roots, which is located in Seattle at 3807 S Ferdinand St in Columbia City, a hometown neighborhood for me! Everyone in there has always been supportive of the community and the events it has. Congratulations to them! Make sure you book with them soon!
